Not Waterloo Region, but …

The Hospitality Workers Training Centre (HWTC) has now opened registrations for Fast Track, a new program for youth 18-29 in Toronto, Brampton, and Mississauga who are interested in hospitality careers.

Created in close partnership with Destination Toronto, City of Toronto Tourism Services Division, Tourism Mississauga, City of Brampton Tourism Unit, and Hyatt, this program is free for eligible participants.

Ontario’s hospitality industry has lost a significant number of workers over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic and is actively seeking new entrants that will be ready to support reopening and recovery. Fast Track is aimed at preparing youth to accept that challenge by providing them with a solid skill foundation on which to build.

With a mix of online, instructor-led sessions with industry experts, one-on-one coaching, and support from job developers, Fast Track also includes group activities, resume preparation, and mock interviews. Work placements in the final phase of the program are subject to local Covid-19 restrictions.

Successful participants will receive a stipend on completion of the program.

Fast Track will provide a leg up for youth by giving them the basic foundations necessary to succeed in an entry-level hospitality job, and providing support from a team of employment specialists in their quest to secure that new role.

Interested participants can learn more about this program and register for Fast
Track here.

The first cohort kicks off February 7, 2022.
