Schnitzel and gulyas leves for Hungarian Month
Reading Time: < 1 minute
In April, Ontario proclaimed that October would be Hungarian Heritage Month.
It’s a notable month because in October 1956, Canada welcomed more than 37,000 Hungarians following the country’s student-led revolution that began in Budapest.
Today, Canada is home to more than 350,000 people of Hungarian and Magyar descent, along with Hungarian-speaking peoples from other areas of Europe, nearly half of whom live in Ontario.
Some of those Hungarian-Canadians are members of the Kossuth Hungarian Canadian Club, located on Kossuth Road in Cambridge, near Beaverdale and Brookfield golf clubs.
